Gauteng sal heel waarskynlik negatief geaffekteer word deur die sluiting van die grootste olieverwerkingsaanleg in Afrika, suid van die Sahara, volgens die Outomobiel Assosiasie (AA). By verskeie vulstasies in Gauteng en KwaZulu-Natal staan motoriste reeds in rye om hulle motors met brandstof vol te maak.

Die Suid-Afrikaanse Petroleumraffinaderye, kortweg SAPREF het gister aangekondig dat hy sy bedrywighede by dié aanleg buite Durban gaan staak te midde van die voortslepende plundery wat veral KwaZulu-Natal lamlê.

It is the same all over South Africa, build a new school, extort tenders, contracts, bribes & kickbacks. Then burn it down and steal more from the taxpayer by building another school with more tenders, contracts, bribes and kickbacks. The African Way.

80% of Gauteng motorists refuse to pay tolls – This ANC-initiative has been a disaster since onset

The Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, has come to the fore with his negotiations on the existence of the controversial e-toll in the Central Transvaal.

He held discussions with Outa, the AA agency, and several union leaders to get views and views on the matter.

Mbalula later told the media that the government is currently strongly considering the possibility of waiving the e-toll due to the long-standing resistance that causes it to operate at a total loss as 80% of motorists refuse tolls to pay.

To date, the government has been reluctant to comply with the demands and has even offered to reduce the toll tariff by 70%, but this has been rejected by numerous agencies.

Will it be the final downfall of the controversial e-Toll system?

Talks between the ANC Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, and the representatives of the AA as well as those of Outa, give the impression that the system may be tilted.

Mbalula says the opportunity was created to jointly decide on the e-toll system, which indicates that the Outa battle may eventually be the winner.

Opinionists believe the involvement of the AA suggests that a calculation of how to increase the fuel price may be needed to replace the e-toll.

The e-toll was disputed from the outset, and motorists have since refused to settle the accounts, which has resulted in an unusually large loss.

Bad news for motorists: Biggest petrol, diesel price hike ‘in SA’s history’ – unleaded octane fuel inland will cost you close to R17 a litre,

“Mid-month unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) is predicting the biggest fuel price hike in South Africa’s history by some margin,” reports the Automobile Association (AA) which has monitored the fuel price data from 1 September to date.

The AA said: “A spike in international oil prices and a huge swing in the Rand/US dollar exchange rate have combined to predict a knockout blow at the pumps at the end of September.

“Based on the current data, petrol users will be paying R1.12 more per litre.”

The AA says diesel users who will be hit hardest, with a possible price hike of R1.38 per litre, pushing diesel to within a whisker of R16 per litre.

The petrol price increase in March is expected to shock South Africans, with a hefty hike eclipsing original estimates.

It seems likely that rolling petrol price increases, last experienced in the latter half of 2018, are expected to make a dubious return this year – starting next month. While first estimates, released by the Central Energy Fund (CEF) earlier in the month, proposed a hike of 43 cents per litre for petrol and 60 cents per litre for diesel, recent revelations paint a grim picture for South Africans.

The Automobile Association (AA) of South Africa noted that a steady increase in international oil prices, coupled with a weakening rand – both experienced after the first estimate tabled by the CEF – had since altered original evaluations.
