An educator told Die Vryburger that the possibility of enough schools and classrooms for South Africa’s learners will never come.
He points out that the black schools are overcrowded because there are not enough schools to accommodate them, but new schools will not address the big problem.
He says the biggest obstacle is the fact that there are not enough black teachers at all, and those who are in the classroom are not always well educated enough to successfully teach the learners so that they can be trained as teachers after school.
He said the black education crisis would not be resolved if the government did not focus on the training of many teachers.
The serious shortage can only be overcome with the establishment of education training colleges as South Africa has successfully conducted its education corps for many decades.
