“The Sports and Recreation Amendment Bill published last week is nothing more than an attempt by the ANC government to nationalize sport and thus once again expand and promote the party’s ideology at the expense of the country, “says Heloïse Denner, FF Plus MP and chief spokesperson for sport.

Taxpayers funds ANC government failures – the country is suffering while ANC cadres live in splendor

“The goose that lays the golden eggs and who has to pay for the ANC’s failures – the taxpayer – can no longer,” says Wouter Wessels, FF Plus MP and chief spokesperson for finance.

“It is also not necessary for anyone to attend the Standing Committee on Budgets to see that the country is in big trouble because of the ANC’s wrong priorities over 25 years. R200 mill of drought relief monies intended for KwaZulu Natal gone missing – South Africa’s farmers find themselves in a crisis and as a result, our country’s food security and economy are also in crisis

The FF Plus is shocked and disgusted by the news that nearly R220 million, which was earmarked for drought relief in KwaZulu Natal, went missing. It is unclear how the money went missing and the FF Plus demands an urgent investigation into the matter so that the guilty parties can be called to account.

The drought has already taken its toll on the agricultural sector with livestock deaths and poor harvests being at the order of the day. There have been enormous livestock losses in the Free State, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape in particular and some of these parts have not had any rain since November 2017.

The government must urgently prioritise drought relief for commercial as well as emerging farmers. The government must also ensure that the process is managed properly so that the money allocated to drought relief is not stolen, as is the case in KwaZulu Natal.

Ramaphosa creates the impression that racism is only a white problem

President Cyril Ramaphosa’s reaction on Radio 702 when asked about the hate speech of BLF leader, Andile Mngxitama, is disappointing as he shifted the focus to white people as if to imply that racism is mainly a white problem.

According to media reports, President Ramaphosa implied that racism is not common among black people and that Mngxitama is probably just “a lone voice out there in the wilderness”.

President Ramaphosa also added that “we cannot, through the hatred of some white people then begin to define the whole white community as haters of black people”. And: we must say that those who hate black people and those who are racist must be isolated. We must teach them the best ways to be a nation.

The President’s play on words creates the impression that South Africa’s real problem lies with white people, while in reality, the problem under discussion is Mngxitama’s hateful statements. This also echoes the statements made b
