After a months long remuneration increase battle between the ANC Civil Services sector, with the Unions allied as partners against the ANC government, the issues could not be resolved, so they are now heading to the ANC’s Constitutional Court to find a solution or agreement. Yet some time ago it was announced that the ANC government did not have the money to offer salary increases, because all the money was spent in large scale systemic and institutional corruption.

SA-News reported yesterday that Eskom dishes out all sorts of reasons as an excuse why it does not have sufficient “working equipment” or “generating capacity,” despite massive amounts of money being spent. In plain English: Corruption & Plunder.

Gardener on the Run after Murder of 82 Year Old Employer in East London – Media Doesn’t Share Fugitive’s Identity!

The body of 82-year-old Flo Schwartz was found in her garage in Darlington Street, Berea, East London with a wound to her head. According to the police, her gardener apparently came to the house to ask for tools, he had left there the previous day and she opened the gate for him.

Flo’s 89-year-old husband, who is confined to a wheelchair due to ill health, became concerned when his wife took too long to return, and pressed the panic button. Police spokesperson Thembinkosi Kinana said security officers arrived and found her body at the scene.

The publication of the most recent Quarterly Labour Force Survey by Statistics SA and its calculations that the number of unemployed people continues to increase have once again elicited strong opinions and calls that somebody must do something.

Reading the labour force and unemployment statistics together with the report on population growth that Stats SA published a few days earlier – and the statement of the SA Reserve Bank on interest rates a week earlier – creates an even gloomier picture.

The labour force survey for the second quarter of 2019 shows that the economy added a paltry 25 000 jobs compared to a year ago, but that the labour force increased by 598 000 work seekers.

This means only a single job was available for every 24 people who entered the labour market during the last year.
