SA Facing Winter of Phase 4 & 5 Rolling Blackouts as Unmaintained Infrastructure Accelerates the Country’s Collapse!
South Africa is headed for a winter of discontent, not only due to the badly managed Covid response, but it has surpassed yet another point of no return with phase 4 and 5 load shedding coming, due to infrastructure crumbling from lack of maintenance. Energy expert Chris Yelland, director of EE Business Intelligence, has said load shedding will only worsen this winter.
The situation is especially dire in Johannesburg where residents are suffering additional power outages, as a direct result of the City’s crumbling infrastructure, besides those imposed by Eskom.
Some families in Johannesburg have to survive for a week or more without any electricity because City Power’s electricians can’t cope with all the outages caused by decaying and crumbling infrastructure and illegal connections caused by years of ANC mismanagement.
Many residents of Johannesburg were also without water this week because the lack of electricity also means

Eskom drops electricity price bombshell – Consumers will pay ‘50% more’ for electricity if Eskom beats Nersa in court
The power utility is challenging tariff increases approved by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) for 2019 to 2022. If Eskom gets its way, consumers will pay 50% more for electricity.
Eskom contends that approving increases by 9.41% for 2019-2020, 8.10% for 2020-2021 and 5.22% for 2021-2022 instead of the requested 16% was insufficient.
At the core of the recent court challenge is a R23billion cash injection it received from the government that Nersa deducted when approving tariff hikes for three financial years.
In its court application, Eskom contends that the alleged inadequate increase provided by Nersa presents a “material risk of potential catastrophic consequences”, not only for the power utility but for the country.
Energy expert Ted Blom said: “The contestation around the R23bn relates to the fact that at the time, Eskom and government said the money was to subsidise operating costs and Nersa dealt with it

Eskom is now clearly lying, obfuscating and playing with words after it came to light that they are planning to pay out R1, 8 billion in bonuses by saying that it is 13th cheques, not bonuses.
Take into consideration that it was Nersa – National Energy Regulator of South Africa – that called it bonuses in court papers, which is obviously statements made under oath.
Does Eskom now wants us to believe them over Nersa?
Eskom is now playing word and mind games with us by saying that it is 13th cheques, not bonuses . They also say that not all employees are entitled to these 13th cheques. That is where the lie alarm is going off and red flags are going up. What kind of employer does not give a uniform salary structure to its employees? Eskom also says. that employees can choose themselves if they want their total salary package to be divided into 12 or 13 cheques
So if we follow what Eskom has lied, we can then logically conclude that if an employee choose to have 13 pay packages per year and still gets an amount only intended for some employees, but not all, that amount only due for some is in fact a 14th cheque then.

#TheAfricanWay – SA Faces Extended #RollingBlackouts Due to Collapsing Infrastructure Yet Eskom Secretly Wants To Pay R1,8 BILLION (R88,000 per employee) in Performance Bonuses!
#ParasiticParastatal Eskom seems to have a strange idea about what a performance bonus is and why it actually gets paid. It secretly wants to spend R1,8 BILLION on performance bonuses for the current and following 2 years, even as we face phase 4-6 “load shedding” at the moment and it seems like daily rolling blackouts will be with us for quite some time.
According to Rapport Eskom did not disclose this fact to the public and NERSA (National Energy Regulator of South Africa) found out about this all by itself. It is not a new occurrence either as in 2017 Eskom paid out R4, 2 BILLION in bonuses, so they cannot claim ignorance. If that amount is evenly divided amongst Eskom’s 47658 employees, it amounts to R88,000 per employee!
In 2016 bonuses amounted to R2,1 BILLION. Last year Eskom did not want to give bonuses but were forced to give R10,000 each to more than 30,000 employees after they were convinced to go on strike. That amount was on top

Cash strapped Eskom wants another R27bn from consumers – Could this be the reason why SA is experiencing #Rollingblackouts? To manipulate us into giving them what they want?
In its latest application to the energy regulator, the power utility is claiming this as an underrecovery for 2018/19, meaning tariffs may rise by 16.6% next year
Eskom, which last week again saw a collapse of its power network that led to nationwide load shedding, wants consumers to cough up a further R27 billion for electricity.
The national energy regulator Nersa has published Eskom’s latest application for public comment.
In it, the power utility said this was the amount that it underrecovered in 2018/19, and that it therefore wanted R27 billion more through power tariffs.
Although Eskom suggested that whatever Nersa granted should be added to electricity tariffs next year and the year thereafter, Nersa’s decision will likely be too late to influence 2020 tariff increases.
However, if Eskom receives the full R27.2 billion that it wants, and it is implemented over two years, this could see electricity tariffs in 2021 increas

Eskom load shedding may have been applied over Nersa not approving electricity supplier’s tariff increase and is now used as leverage to manipulate the initial decision
TAU SA finds it extremely suspicious that Eskom suddenly imposes loadshedding just days after the electricity supplier filed a lawsuit against Nersa, the regulator, because the entity was not satisfied with the tariff increases approved.
“It almost seems as if there is a subtle blackmail here, as it has often happened in the past if Eskom disagreed with Nersa’s decisions,” says Mr. Louis Meintjes, the president of TAU SA. “The consumer is beginning to get the impression that if Eskom doesn’t make sense, load shedding is set as a kind of leverage.
“The explanation that there have been problems since Saturday, but the country is only caught on Wednesday without any warning, is just as unacceptable,” he says. “Many farmers need to properly schedule their irrigation in these drought and hot temperatures so that they can provide food for the country’s tables. They have been deprived of the right of proper planni

Unproductive Eskom drags Nersa to court over reduced power tariffs showing financial deficit of R102 billion
The greedy Eskom, which fails to become profitable on its own, and constantly stands by the ANC government, has now taken its arrogance a step further, according to financial experts.
The bankrupt power provider has already taken steps to approach the Supreme Court in a case against Nersa’s decision to grant a lower rate than requested.
The National Energy Regulator (Nersa) and Eskom are reportedly in conflict with each other and Eskom claims that the reduction in tariff increases means that it will show a further deficit of R102 billion.
Nersa has allowed 9.41% and 6.1% and 5.22% increases in tariffs for the next three years, but the unproductive Eskom is very dissatisfied and has now approached the court.
Experts once again point out that Eskom is in control with the levy after the ANC government repeatedly said that delivery of power is a priority. Eskom saw it as a leverage to continue with its poor management, overcrowded and u

Eskom’s prior request for tariff hike slammed: Eskom’s stage 4 load shedding is a direct attempt to sabotage, and blackmail SA – Ordinary citizens are becoming the scapegoat to foot the bill of its complete and utter failures and lack of planning
The South African Communist Party says Eskom’s management is rolling out massive blackouts in an attempt to blackmail South Africans to accept privatisation of the power utility.
Eskom resumed with loadshedding for the first time this year on Sunday.
Power cuts continued yesterday and Tuesday after a failure of generating units.
“The management of Eskom, in the manner that they are rolling out these blackouts, is trying to blackmail us so we must accept whatever should befall Eskom. We should not be blackmailed into that. That’s why we believe that these blackouts can be avoided,” SACP first deputy general secretary Solly Mapaila stated.
Mapaila said one of reasons given by Eskom for load shedding was low stocks of diesel.
“Why can’t they procure enough diesel on time? It is all of those things that I think are just unacceptable. The reasons why there were blackouts and so forth were issues of leadership incompetence. W
